GACSN is a Saturday recreation program for youth and young adults with special needs and young at heart, ages 10 to 30.
The program offers a curated selection of special guests and field trips every term, attracting considerable interest from participants. Highlights include: Monkey Rock Music, Proulx Farm and the Canadian Nature Museum.
Our mission is to provide participants with a safe, healthy and socially enriching environment. There is zero tolerance for aggression in the program.
Our staff is highly qualified. The program operates on a 1:4 staff to participant ratio. These pods are supported by student volunteers entering various fields, such as medicine, psychology and social services. They are given the necessary training and enhance the program with their help and friendship.
GACSN runs on Saturdays during the school year, 1 to 4 pm, at the Bob MacQuarrie Recreation Complex in Orleans, 1490 Youville Drive.
We begin with an hour of recreational swim in the therapeutic or deep pool, depending on the ability of the participant. We then return to our hall for arts and crafts, fun experiments and games, under the theme of the day.
